We are seeking an Inclusion Mentor to join our dedicated team.This role is crucial in supporting students who face barriers to learning, ensuring they receive a positive and inclusive educational experience that leads to quality outcomes. The Inclusion Mentor will work under the direction of the centre Manager, focusing on students at risk of exclusion and assisting them in accessing personalised learning programmes.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Support students in securing the best possible GCSE outcomes to ensure positive post-16 progression routes.

  • Provide support in everyday learning contexts, primarily within the Provision, creating a positive and productive environment.

  • Work with students to raise self-esteem and confidence, aiming to improve personal and social skills.

  • Facilitate and encourage students timetabled in the provision, giving them the opportunity to achieve their individual potential and make positive changes.

  • Contribute to raising standards of student behaviour, progress, and outcomes.

  • Support students in small groups receiving structured interventions on topics such as self-esteem, resilience, and managing emotions.

  • Supervise and support literacy and numeracy sessions.

  • Regularly evaluate the success and impact of interventions, reporting to the centre Manager on student progress.

  • Coordinate and organise units of work/interventions and/or specific skills development with groups of students.

  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of students, consistently applying the whole school behaviour policy to facilitate effective learning.

  • GCSE Grade C/4 in English and Maths.

  • A good general educational background.

  • Relevant Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience.

  • Experience of working with children of a relevant age and those facing challenging circumstances.

  • Working knowledge of relevant policies/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation.

  • Understanding of the national curriculum and other relevant learning programmes.

  • Effective interpersonal skills with excellent communication and presentation abilities.

  • Ability to work constructively as part of a team, independently, and manage and monitor a student’s learning/behaviour choices.
