Accounts Senior

We are seeking an experienced Accounts Senior to join an established accountancy practice based in South Tyneside. This role involves leading a small team, ensuring high-quality service delivery across key accounting functions, and reporting directly to firm partners. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of HMRC guidelines, strong organisational skills, and experience mentoring junior staff.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Lead and supervise a small team, including organising workloads and ensuring deadlines are met.

• Oversee and manage payroll, pensions, CIS, VAT, and annual accounts processes.

• Report directly to firm partners, providing updates on team performance and project statuses.

• Handle HMRC registrations and ensure compliance with HMRC guidelines.

• Supervise and review the work of team members, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

• Act as a mentor for junior staff, supporting their development and training.

• Liaise professionally with clients to provide exceptional service and address inquiries.

• Extensive experience with Sage Accounts and Sage Payroll.

• Working knowledge of other accounting software such as QuickBooks & Xero.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions.

• Strong understanding of HMRC guidelines and regulations.

• Experience managing and leading a team in an accounting environment.

• Qualified by experience, or AAT, ACA/ACCA qualified, or currently working towards these qualifications.

• Competitive salary within the range of £32,000 to £35,000 per annum.
