Specification Technologist / Technical Coordinator

Location: Hull

Job Type: Full-time

I have been briefed to recruit for a dedicated Specification Technologist. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all customer specifications, pack copies, artwork, and other ancillary documents such as labels and factory QAS are accurately set up and maintained. This position requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to ensure all documentation is accurate, legally compliant, and aligns with customer labelling policies.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate setup and maintenance of customer specifications, pack copies, artwork, and other documents.
  • Produce necessary customer documentation to meet Critical Path timescales and launch deadlines.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • Ensure that approved suppliers and raw materials meet all technical, legal, and customer standards.
  • Manage multiple tasks with conflicting priorities and deliver results to strict deadlines.
  • Transfer data accurately and clearly from supplier specifications and provided information.
  • Work proactively, independently, and collaboratively, depending on project needs.
  • Adapt to changing regulatory requirements and operational needs with a flexible approach.
  • Resolve issues with a hands-on, solution-focused approach.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 1 – 2 years of experience in the food industry, preferably within food manufacturing.
  • Experience with specification completion for retailers.
  • Strong knowledge of food and drink labelling regulations; formal training in this area is beneficial.
  • HACCP and Food Safety Level 3 certification.
  • Familiarity with TACCP / VACCP systems.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • IT competence in software packages such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Strong attention to detail with a \”Right First Time\” attitude.
  • Ability to proofread and consult colleagues as required.
