We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Production Shift Supervisor at our headquarters in County Durham. This pivotal role is responsible for managing all production activities and resources during the night shift, blending hands-on operational management with people management.

Day-to-Day of the Role:

  • Operational Management:

    • Coordinate all manufacturing activities during the night shift to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
    • Monitor and manage shift KPIs, including output, downtime, waste, and labour usage.
    • Ensure production schedules are completed on time and adhere to the highest quality and safety standards.
    • Support and maintain strict compliance with HACCP, BRCGS, health & safety, and hygiene procedures.
    • Communicate shift performance, challenges, and solutions clearly during handovers.
    • Collaborate with planning, technical, warehouse, and engineering teams to resolve issues and maintain operational flow.
    • Lead and contribute to continuous improvement projects focusing on waste reduction, line efficiency, and process control.
  • People Management:

    • Lead, support, and motivate a team of production operatives to work safely and effectively.
    • Develop a high-performing team culture with clear expectations and positive reinforcement.
    • Promote inclusion, respect, and well-being among all staff.
    • Manage team duties such as resource planning, holiday approval, absence management, and performance conversations.
    • Handle disciplinary and grievance matters in line with company procedures.
    • Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new team members.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in production supervision, ideally within a food or FMCG manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, including planning, OEE, KPIs, quality systems, and compliance standards.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence, coach, and support others.
  • High attention to detail, excellent organisation, and a calm, solutions-focused mindset.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, multicultural environment and promoting an inclusive culture.
  • IT literacy, particularly in Excel and production systems, with the ability to maintain and analyse reports.
