We are seeking an experienced Head of Building Safety to join a well-established housing provider in London. This pivotal role involves leading our compliance efforts to ensure the highest standards of safety for our residents and buildings.

About the Role

As the Head of Building Safety, you will be instrumental in developing and implementing robust systems to manage compliance with building safety regulations. Reporting to the Director of Property – Asset Management, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Developing and maintaining systems to monitor and manage compliance with the Building Safety Act and other relevant legislation.
  2. Overseeing the Building Safety Management system, ensuring it includes robust policies and procedures that deliver demonstrable compliance and safety for residents.
  3. Building and leading a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  4. Maintaining the Golden Thread of information that is accurate, relevant, and up-to-date.
  5. Serving as the lead subject matter expert on building safety compliance, providing advice and guidance to internal teams and external stakeholders.
  6. Developing and maintaining constructive relationships with Building Safety Regulators.
  7. Conducting regular audits and reviews to identify and address gaps in compliance processes.
  8. Preparing detailed reports and analysis for the Executive Team, Safer Buildings Panel, and Property Committee.

About You

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  1. Extensive experience in building safety, compliance, and systems management.
  2. In-depth knowledge of building safety legislation and regulation, including the Building Safety Act and relevant statutory instruments.
  3. Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of managing teams and driving organisational compliance.
  4. Demonstrated ability to implement and manage complex compliance systems.
  5. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with regulators, residents, and senior leaders.
  6. Relevant qualifications in construction, safety, or risk management (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH, RICS).
  7. A meticulous and systematic approach to managing compliance and safety.
