Service Technician Annual Salary: £35,000 Location: Gateshead (local and international travel as required) Job Type: Full-timeJoin our client’s Operations team as a Service Technician, where you will play a crucial role in providing technical support and continuous improvement opportunities to their key transport clients. This position involves direct client interaction and on-site responsibilities, making it ideal for proactive problem-solvers with strong technical knowledge in electrical or electronic disciplines. Day-to-day of the role: Act as the primary point of contact for clients regarding technical and reliability queries, managing information flow and issue resolution through the JIRA helpdesk. Attend internal and customer reviews, either remotely or face-to-face, and make on-site visits to depots for unplanned events, sometimes at short notice. Analyse RMA data and field performance to proactively identify trends affecting performance and reliability. Support engineering change requests promptly to ensure continuous product support in the field. Provide hands-on technical support, diagnosing and troubleshooting system, hardware, and software issues. Assist in the production repair process to meet delivery targets when not engaged in field service tasks. Collaborate with various organisational functions to resolve problems and contribute to operational improvements in line with company values.Required Skills & Qualifications: Strong technical knowledge of systems, test regimes, and common failure modes related to the transport sector. Experience in on-depot support and familiarity with HSE/RSSB protocols. Electrical/electronic qualification is beneficial but not mandatory; relevant experience is highly valued. Excellent communication skills, capable of discussing technical issues effectively with clients. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and problem-solving approach.
