You’ll head a dedicated team including internal experts and specialist third-party partners to oversee security operations across a complex environment of 4,000 Remote Telemetry Units, 5,000 Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), 200 SCADA systems, and their supporting networks. This role demands a strong technical understanding of OT assets, including PLCs, SCADA, telemetry systems, and server infrastructure, alongside experience with threat detection, intrusion systems, and compliance with industry standards like the NIS Directive.Accountabilities & ResponsibilitiesTo improve performance and security of the OT Technology estate through a process of pro-active continuous service improvement and to plan and manage the reduction of cyber and security risk to services to United UtilitiesTo deliver the security operations management of the OT Technology estate and its availability 24/7/365 where applicableContribute expert security advice, insights and suggestions to support other leaders in Technology Services to make informed decisionsSpot security trends and assess the risk and opportunities for the business unit, prioritising activity to ensure that risks are minimised and additional value is added whenever possible. Seek out best practice and innovative ideas/approaches, both internally and externally, and manage their implementation in the given business areaOversee the Security Operations Centre (SOC) and manage threat detection, monitoring, and responseTechnical Skills & ExperienceConsiderable experience of operating Information Technology Information Library (ITIL) and Cyber Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) processes and standards.Extensive working knowledge of available technologies and defining appropriate strategies to create efficient and effective solutions and servicesAble to develop and manage high-level problem resolution and service improvement plans and act as a technical interface working with executive level leaders on strategy and feasibility studiesStrong leadership, motivational and interpersonal qualities with experience of influencing at different management levels both within and external to Technology ServiceExperience of managing technical resource working to quality and time based criteria.
