We are looking for a HGV/ Tarmac Operative to join our Natural Resources, Nuclear & Networks team based in Bodmin.
Location: Bodmin
Hours: 45 hours per week over Monday to Sunday on a shift rota basis.
Our Natural Resources, Nuclear & Networks division brings the built environment to life, keeping people and businesses connected. In this role, you will be working on our South West Water framework, where we work on repairs and maintenance services to provide reliable, efficient, and high-quality drinking water and wastewater services.
What will you be responsible for?
- Supporting the team in schemes including mains laying, pressure management, district metering and large and complex mains repairs.
- Responsible for backfill and servicing of excavations both on the public highway and on private land.
- Providing support to the Repair & Maintenance, service and mains laying teams to remove excavated material and import clean stone for backfilling purposes.
- Assisting the teams with backfilling and site clearance, ensuring compliance of backfill operations regarding materials, compaction, cavity depths, cover levels and overall quality control.
- Completing site risk assessments and quality checks, receiving and updating scheduled work, quality control and record keeping via an electronic tablet, as well as transporting store and materials around the company area to support depots.
What are we looking for?
- A valid CPC licence and NRSWA street work operative card covering 001-006 inc. SLG reinstatement in the Highway.
- Experience of working on utility contracts and have knowledge of correct lifting practices.
- General knowledge of reinstatement practices.
