Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm (35 hours per week)
An established business is looking to recruit an experienced Accounts Assistant to support its busy finance department. This role would suit someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and has a strong eye for detail, alongside previous experience within an accounts or finance position.
Main Duties
- Handling the day-to-day processing of supplier invoices, ensuring all information is correctly entered and approved before posting
- Looking after supplier accounts, carrying out statement reconciliations, and resolving any payment or invoice discrepancies
- Assisting with scheduled payment runs and ensuring payments are processed accurately and on time
- Producing customer invoices and supporting credit control activities by monitoring overdue accounts
- Recording banking activity and completing regular bank reconciliations
- Supporting month-end finance processes, including accruals, prepayments, and reconciliation work
- Keeping financial records accurate, organised, and compliant with internal procedures
- Assisting during audit periods by preparing relevant financial documentation and responding to information requests
- Providing additional administrative and finance support where required across the business
About You
- Strong numerical ability and excellent attention to detail
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines effectively
- A confident working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Previous experience using accounting systems, ideally SAP
- A solid understanding of basic accounting practices and procedures
Qualifications & Experience
- GCSEs or equivalent qualifications, including Maths and English
- AAT qualification, or currently studying towards one, would be advantageous
- Previous finance or accounting qualifications are beneficial but not essential
