Commissioning Editor – Medicine & Health Journals
Are you passionate about advancing medical knowledge and healthcare? Here’s your opportunity to join the dynamic Medicine and Healthcare team of a leading global academic publisher, who are seeking a Commissioning Editor to play a pivotal role in shaping their medicine and healthcare journals. We are looking for 3 journal publishing professionals (2 permanent roles and 1 maternity cover), who are looking to advance their careers and work closely with some of the world’s leading experts in clinical research and drug development, while gaining a strong working knowledge of journal operations. These roles are offered on a hybrid basis with three days in the London office and two days from home.
Reporting to the Commissioning Team Manager, you will be responsible for:
Commissioning High-Quality Content: Identify and develop engaging articles that resonate with the organisation’s readership. Building Knowledge: Develop a thorough understanding of key therapy areas and emerging topics in biomedical sciences. Fostering Relationships: Collaborate closely with authors, editorial boards, and key opinion leaders to maintain a robust network. Overseeing Editorial Processes: Ensure a smooth peer review and editorial decision-making process, maintaining the highest standards of quality. Conducting Reviews: Regularly assess processes to uphold industry-leading customer service. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a background in biomedical or biological sciences who enjoys researching scientific literature. You will work alongside world-renowned experts in clinical research and drug development, gaining invaluable insights into journal operations at one of the largest global academic publishers. The Medicine & Health Commissioning team is a large and friendly team, where there is lots of scope for personal growth and development within these roles and within the wider company.
We are looking for:
Educational Background: Degree in medical or biomedical sciences, due to the nature of the role and its requirements Experience: Relevant experience in scientific or medical publishing or medical communications. Problem solving: Experience with problem-solving, initiating debate, and making sure ideas are explored Skills: Strong time management, problem-solving abilities, and a genuine curiosity about the healthcare industry.
