Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Engineering Director, you will take operational ownership of fleet availability, engineering compliance, and technical standards across multiple London bus garages. In this pivotal senior leadership role, you will be both strategic and very much involved with the local teams ensuring that daily Peak Vehicle Requirement (PVR) targets are met, driving strict DVSA compliance, and leading the technical delivery of the zero-emission vehicle rollout. You will act as a leader, coaching Depot Engineering Managers and their teams, and ensuring every vehicle leaving the depot meets uncompromising safety and presentation standards, whilst doing this cost effectively.

Candidate Profile

  • Industry Experience: Significant senior engineering management experience within passenger transport, heavy commercial vehicle operations, or a major bus fleet environment.
  • Technical & Compliance Expertise: Deep operational knowledge of PSV / HGV maintenance, statutory compliance frameworks, modern multiplex electrical architectures, and heavy-duty mechanical systems.
  • Electrification Background: Practical experience or strong technical familiarity with the deployment, maintenance, and charging infrastructure of electric commercial vehicles.
  • Leadership Track Record: Proven ability to lead multi-site teams, manage change in a fast-paced environment, and drive accountability across workshop floors.

Qualifications: Relevant engineering qualification (Mechanical/Automotive) and a strong understanding of transport legislation (CPC holder preferred).
