Based at STEP | Reporting to the Front of House Co-ordinator
We\’re looking for a friendly and hard-working Catering Assistant to join our team at STEP. You’ll help run our on-site takeaway and support our venue catering. The role is fast-paced, hands‑on, and customer-focused – perfect for someone who loves food and takes pride in great service.
Main Responsibilities:

Prepare, cook and serve fresh food and drinks for our takeaway and venue events

Help create menus, manage portion sizes and food costs
-
Make items like breakfast rolls, paninis, soups and meals from scratch
-
Maintain food hygiene, allergen control and health & safety standards
-
Keep the kitchen clean, organised and fully stocked
-
Take online orders and use our till system (EPOS)

Help with stock takes and ordering supplies
-
Open and close the unit, cash up at the end of the day

Occasionally work evenings, weekends or public holidays
What we’re looking for:

Strong cooking skills and experience with menu planning

Knowledge of food safety, allergens and health & safety

Great customer service and communication skills

Able to stay calm under pressure and work quickly
