The predicted salary is between 13 - 16 £ per hour.

Redwell Medical Centre are looking for a Practice Nurse (Treatment Area) for 20 hours, 4 days per week. Contracted shift pattern required will be:

  • Tues 1.30 - 6.30
  • Wed 1.30 - 6.30
  • Fri 1.30 - 6.30

Staff are also required to be available for overtime to cover annual leave and sickness, as well as Saturdays 8-11 (on an overtime basis) which is done on a rota basis (approx. 1 in every 4 or 5).

The Nurse will work as a member of the Treatment Area Nursing Team. They will support the organisation and facilitation of clinical care in a holistic and proactive manner to patients registered at the practice. Ideally the Nurse will have experience in childhood immunisation and family planning.

The Practice Nurse will be responsible for their own clinics, managing and performing a range of conditions and duties, in line with their own scope of practice, clinical based evidence, NICE and NSF. They will work alongside the treatment area and wider MDT. The Practice Nurse will be willing to learn and develop new skills, in accordance with the Practice needs.

This organisation will ensure that the post holder has access to appropriate clinical supervision and an appropriate named individual in the organisation to provide general advice and support on a day-to-day basis. They will hold full registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, ensuring their appraisal and revalidation are up to date. They will comply with NMC guidelines and code of conduct.

Main duties of the job include (but are not limited to):

  • wound management
  • compression dressings (if trained)
  • cervical screening (if trained)
  • doppler studies (if trained)
  • suture or clip removal
  • blood pressure
  • ECGs
  • swabs
  • vaccinations under PSD/PGD
  • childhood immunisations (with relevant training)
  • chronic disease management (with relevant training)
  • processing and management of laboratory samples
  • cleansing and maintenance of equipment
  • cleaning and/or emptying of clinical waste as required
  • vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recordings
  • surgical equipment and vaccine ordering, re-stocking and stock rotation
  • clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
  • responding to and assisting with medical emergencies

About us: We are a practice of 4 Partners, 3 of whom are GPs and 1 is an Advanced Pharmacist Practitioner. We currently have 3 salaried GPs, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 1 Specialist Nurse, 1 Practice Nurse, 1 Nurse Associate and 1 HCA. We are well supported by a Business Manager, Operations Manager, Office Manager, Admin Support Manager and a friendly administration team. We also work closely with the PCN (Primary Care Network) and local Hub, using the services of a Pharmacist, Paramedic Home Visiting Service, Physiotherapists, CATCH team Nurses and Social Prescribers. We are an EMIS web practice with approximately 12,200 registered patients living in the Wellingborough area and surrounding villages, we are a successful forward-thinking Practice with a track record of achievement.
