We're setting out to build the next generation of conveyancing business. Today most conveyancing is done by high street law firms as an afterthought. It's characterised by frustrated, impatient clients and professionals burnt out by high case loads and repetitive work. But it doesn't have to be that way. We want to design a firm around operational excellence, technology, customer experience, and team culture, not traditional law firm hierarchy.
We're currently evaluating two methods for entering the market in parallel: acquiring an existing practice - using this as a launchpad to enhance and grow, and designing a new breed of regulated practice from the ground up.
We're looking for a senior conveyancing solicitor or licensed conveyancer to help shape that journey from the beginning. This is a rare opportunity to help build and lead a practice with genuine strategic influence, meaningful economic upside, and without the personal financial exposure of starting alone.
The OpportunityYou will work directly with the founder to shape the business from the beginning. Exploring both of our routes to market in tandem and growing alongside the practice as it scales. From day one, you will have significant input into:
- how the practice is structured,
- how work flows through the business,
- how technology and automation are used,
- how clients are communicated with,
- and what kind of culture we build.
This is intentionally not a traditional fee-earner management role. We believe conveyancing can be delivered more efficiently, more predictably, and with a far better client and staff experience than most firms currently provide. We are looking for someone excited by the opportunity to help prove that.
ResponsibilitiesAs Founding Head of Conveyancing, you will:
- Help assess acquisition opportunities and/or support the launch of a new regulated practice
- Play a leading role in shaping operational processes, systems, and service standards
- Oversee residential conveyancing work and legal quality
- Support regulatory and compliance setup where required
- Help recruit, develop, and lead the wider conveyancing team
- Contribute to the strategic direction and long-term growth of the business
- Depending on experience and regulatory structure, the role may evolve into HoLP/managerial leadership responsibilities over time.
You may already be leading a team, or you may be an experienced conveyancer who feels constrained by traditional firms and wants more influence over how a business is run. You are likely to be:
- A qualified solicitor or licensed conveyancer with strong residential conveyancing experience
- Commercially aware and interested in the operational side of legal services
- Comfortable with change, ambiguity, and building things from scratch
- Frustrated by inefficient processes and poor client communication in the current market
- Motivated by the opportunity to help create something materially better
- Ideally with experience recruiting and managing a team
- Prior senior leadership experience is helpful but not essential. An entrepreneurial mindset matters more than corporate polish.
We are looking for a long-term partner, not simply an employee. The package will include:
- we've benchmarked the base salary at £85k, but the right candidate is more important to us than a perfect CV, so we may offer more or less based on experience
- meaningful equity options and/or profit share,
- and the opportunity to play a foundational role in building a scalable business from the beginning.
Part time, contract and equity only options are also welcomed during the early setup stage and whilst waiting for regulatory approval.
