A unique opportunity for an experienced UI/UX Designer to join a well-funded early-stage technology company. You will be the first dedicated UI/UX Designer in the team, taking ownership of the user experience and helping establish the design foundations for an innovative software platform. This is a key hire for the business, so they are looking for someone with solid commercial UI/UX experience who is confident working autonomously and turning complex information, data and workflows into clear, engaging software solutions. Working closely with software engineers, senior stakeholders and end users, you will have significant influence over both the current product and its future direction.
Due to the nature of some client projects, you must be willing and eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance. You can join the team and work on other commercial projects while your clearance application is progressing.
Location: London office, hybrid, minimum 2 days a week
Salary: £50,000 - £65,000 per annum + benefits
Requirements for UI / UX Designer:
- Solid commercial experience working within UI/UX Design, with the ability to take ownership of design decisions and work autonomously
- Strong experience designing user-friendly interfaces that simplify complex technical information, data and workflows
- Experience collaborating closely with end users, software engineers, product teams and senior stakeholders
- Strong experience creating user journeys, wireframes, prototypes and high-quality user interface designs using Figma
- Confidence establishing UI/UX processes, design principles and standards as the first dedicated UI/UX Designer within a team
- Working knowledge of JavaScript, React and TypeScript
- Experience using Jira and Confluence
- Knowledge of RESTful APIs and relational databases, such as SQL
- Experience designing user interfaces for data-rich or technically complex software would be advantageous
- Exposure to any of the following would be beneficial: Python, AWS, Docker and PostgreSQL
- Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to work closely with senior stakeholders and the wider engineering team
- You must be eligible to obtain UK SC Security Clearance due to the nature of some projects.
Responsibilities for UI / UX Designer:
- Take ownership of the UI/UX function as the first dedicated designer within the team
- Help shape the look, feel and overall user experience of the software platform
- Design engaging interfaces that enable users to navigate complex information, data and workflows
- Produce user journeys, wireframes, interactive prototypes and high-quality interface designs ready for development
- Work closely with software engineers to ensure designs are practical, achievable and deliver an excellent user experience
- Engage directly with end users to understand their requirements and translate feedback into intuitive product experiences
- Collaborate with the wider team to help define product requirements and contribute to future feature planning
- Establish and maintain consistent design principles, user interface elements and design guidelines across the platform
- Help establish the UI/UX processes and design foundations required as the company and product continue to grow
- Turn complex technical concepts into clear, intuitive and user-friendly software experiences
