A fantastic opportunity for a graduate or experienced Platform Engineer to join a highly successful technology company working on complex, large-scale software systems. You will join a specialist platform team responsible for the infrastructure, tooling and automation that enables engineering teams to develop, deploy and operate software effectively. This is a hands-on role with Kubernetes at its core, offering the opportunity to work across container orchestration, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, observability and cloud-native technologies.
Location: London, 2 days per week in the office
Salary: £40,000 - £60,000 per annum + benefits
Requirements:
- Experienced candidates looking towards the upper end of the salary range should demonstrate the majority of the following. However, we are also very keen to hear from exceptional graduates with a demonstrable interest in pursuing a career in Platform Engineering.
- Those applying at graduate level should have a strong academic background, including a 2:1 or 1st class degree and at least AAB at A Level.
- You will have commercial experience working with Kubernetes, however, graduates with a good grasp are considered.
- You will have experience operating, troubleshooting and scaling Kubernetes clusters within production environments.
- Good understanding of Kubernetes networking, storage, RBAC and workload scheduling.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code and provisioning tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Experience with CI/CD technologies such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or Jenkins.
- Good understanding of networking and security principles.
- Experience working with source control systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to investigate logs, identify patterns and resolve complex platform issues.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience with scripting or programming languages such as Python, Bash or Go would be beneficial.
- Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, GitOps or service mesh technologies would also be advantageous.
Responsibilities:
- Operate, maintain and evolve Kubernetes platforms across multiple environments.
- Ensure applications can be deployed reliably and efficiently at scale.
- Work closely with software engineering teams to understand infrastructure requirements and encourage scalable, cloud-native development practices.
- Improve the reliability, observability and performance of Kubernetes clusters.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support efficient software delivery.
- Develop and improve Infrastructure as Code using technologies such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Automate operational processes and identify opportunities to improve the developer experience.
- Support engineering teams with the effective use of cloud infrastructure.
- Help transition new applications and services into production.
- Embed security best practices into platform architecture and infrastructure.
- Monitor platform components and ensure services meet performance and reliability requirements.
- Evaluate relevant cloud-native technologies and introduce practical improvements to the platform.
