A brilliant opportunity for a Graduate or experienced Software Test Engineer to work for a fast-growing company that develops industry-leading communication software and hardware. Offering a very unique opportunity to see the products you test being used in critical communications, including mission-control space travel! This role has been highlighted as being well suited to a Mathematics or Physics graduate, with some programming knowledge, who loves problem-solving and has a methodical approach to work. Location: Village location near Cambridge; having the ability to drive would be an advantage; however, there is a shuttle bus from the rail station.
Salary: £31,000 for a Graduate, more for experienced + competitive plus 8% pension, healthcare, etc.
Requirements for Software Test Engineer:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in a STEM subject such as Maths, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering due to the analytical requirements for this role, people from Physics or Mathematics backgrounds tend to do very well.
- Good programming knowledge in Python.
- Excellent analytical skills with close attention to detail.
- Experience and enjoyment in testing code.
- A love of problem-solving.
- Positive, can-do mentality and a team player.
- You are not set on being a Software Developer and love the idea of a highly technical, problem-solving role.
- Any experience in the following is beneficial: IP networking, scripting experience, use of multiple operating systems (Linux, Mac OS X, Windows).
Responsibilities for Graduate Software Test Engineer:
- Writing automation tests using Python.
- Validating the product, ensuring it meets the requirements specification.
- Validating delivered User Stories and Bug fixes.
- Writing and running Test Cases and Test Plans.
- Running regression tests to verify functional and system integrity.
- Supporting the development team by replicating field issues.
- Reporting issues via the bug-tracking tool.
- Participating in developing testing strategies.
- Working within Agile development teams.
