2D Designer – £40-£45k (UK ONLY)
ROLE OVERVIEW
I\’m looking for a 2D creative designer to join our vibrant creative team, producing
designs which communicate our clients’ brand voice through innovative storytelling
and unique concepts.
You’ll be eager to contribute to all parts of the design process and will be
experienced in agency life, from brief taking, research, strategy and concepting
through to creation.
Producing impactful designs within the time budgeted will be a challenge you thrive
on, interrogating briefs and having excellent attention to detail. You’ll have great
knowledge of how 2D designs come to life in various formats, whether that be in an
online (digital, mobile, social media etc) or offline application (events, exhibitions,
product launches, brand, activations, print, large format etc).
As a collaborative role, you’ll be a great communicator, working with Sleek’s creative
and design team and the wider events team to deliver authentic, imaginative designs
that transform spaces and content into impactful brand experiences. You will be a
key member of the design team and as such will be comfortable briefing and
collaborating with our extended freelance family. You will also work closely with the
creative director and creative leads, collaborating on art direction.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Being an active contributor across the full scope of the event design process:
from research to idea concepting, to design development and artworking. This
could be for both live events, pitch work and internal Sleek work.
- Responding to briefs with considered creative concepts which you bring to life
through quick mood, AI generated, sketch and art direction.
- Developing designs that reflect customer and visitor journeys, understanding
hierarchy of messaging, wayfinding, and a basic UX understanding.
- Understanding time, engagement and space as the main drivers for
successful experiential design.
- Ability to use photoshop to enhance and touch up renders or site photos, for
example adding people / graphics and lighting effects.
- A passion for exploring new materials and techniques to deliver design results
through sustainable goals, especially in offline print processes.
- Delivering innovative, fun and well-executed design work that pushes
boundaries within our clients’ brand guidelines and allows you to flex your
creative skills.
- Producing high quality work that not only meets the brief but takes it to new
heights where possible.
- Being proud of your work and representing Sleek by producing first class
content.
- Living and breathing the client and internal guidelines ensuring all output
meets deadlines, budgets and briefs.
GENERAL
- Demonstrating the ability to accurately follow creative processes whilst
suggesting new and innovative ways to enhance them.
- Showing consistency in delivery, being satisfied with delivering designs you’re
proud of.
- Ensuring all project documentation is up to date and used effectively and file
versions are filed efficiently.
- Day to day management of workload across a broad range of projects and
deadlines, able to work on numerous projects simultaneously, ensuring
standards are maintained at all times and helping to make timescales clear.
- Building strong relationships within the wider team through regular and clear
communication and a collaborative approach to work, being able to explain
design concepts to non-designers.
- Other duties/tasks within your skill set as and when required.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in an agency environment
- Confident using the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite with digital and AI generative
design knowledge
- An advantage to have a working knowledge of After Effects and similar
programs for simple concept animations
- An advantage, but not essential, to have a basic understanding of SketchUp
to create basic massing models to test out environmental branding.
- Ability or experience of designing concepts for a variety of applications
(digital, print, physical venue branding including large-scale etc)
- Enthusiasm with an eagerness and willingness to learn
- Detail-oriented, with good commercial awareness and understanding
- Self-motivated and organised, helping to frame timelines, respect deadlines,
pre-empt issues, able to brief and direct freelance designers and know when
to ask for advice
- Skilled at working both independently and as a team player, bringing a
positive can-do attitude to all aspects of the role
- An ability to confidently sell your designs, whether to internal team or client
- Flexible and willing to react quickly to changing demands of the business
- Be highly organised with the ability to prioritise tasks cross-functionally
- Strive for continuous improvement, being receptive to feedback and
implementing this into your work.
