An exciting opportunity has arisen within this leading, global manufacturer of machinery and equipment into a number of technical and engineering industries, for a Senior Electronics Engineer to join its team in Bishops Stortford.

THE ROLE

The Senior Electronics Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and documentation associated with the electro-mechanical systems of highly complex electromechanical machinery. Independently evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria in executing product development and validation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and support the design and development of systems and PCBAs from initial concept and requirements definition through validation, production release, and sustaining support.
  • Create schematics, support PCB layout, and develop bills of materials in collaboration with layout, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.
  • Support prototype builds, bring‑up, debug, and validation testing at the board and system level.
  • Develop and execute electrical verification and characterization test plans, including documenting results and resolving issues.
  • Provide sustaining engineering support, including root cause analysis of manufacturing, field, or supplier-related issues and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Apply industry codes, standards, and internal design practices to ensure safe, reliable, and manufacturable designs.
  • Participate in requirements definition and technical documentation, including design descriptions, test procedures, and change documentation.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with mechanical, software, quality, manufacturing, service, and suppliers to deliver integrated product solutions.
  • Support supplier engagement, component selection, obsolescence management, and qualification of alternate components.
  • Contribute technical input to design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives across the product lifecycle.

THE PERSON

In order to succeed in the role of Senior Electronics Engineer the ideal candidate will be HND/Degree qualified and have experience of developing products specifically machinery. You will need good experience of electronic and electromechanical systems. Experience of leading a small team and running projects is essential to fulfil this Senior Engineer role.
