Redruth School is a successful school set in beautiful West Cornwall. We are looking to appoint a Pastoral Year Lead who is passionate, adaptable and enthusiastic about working with young people within an educational setting. In this role you will take a pro‑active role in the support of the educational, social and physical needs of our students, developing positive working relationships with your cohort and their families.

Responsibilities

  • You will support a year team of approximately 10 tutors and 300 students, challenge and support young people to ensure they reach their potential both in terms of character and academic outcomes.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Be qualified to ‘A’ level or equivalent
  • Have the ability to support a year team which consists of approximately 10 tutors and 300 students
  • Have experience of working with young people
  • Have experience of working with and referring to external agencies that support young people
  • Have awareness or experience of working in a trauma‑informed way
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Have self‑motivation and a friendly manner
  • Have a high standard of computer literacy and excellent organisational skills
  • Be able to challenge and support young people to ensure they reach their potential both in terms of character and academic outcomes

Checks and Safeguarding

The successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and will be assessed against the Childcare Disqualifications Regulations. It is an offence to apply for the role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
