Supporting the business and our divisional offices, our Head Office functions cover all departments from our Executive Board through to our support functions such as Group Design and Technical, HR, Health and Safety, IT, Sales and Marketing, Commercial, Procurement, Group Finance, Corporate Affairs, as well as Legal and Company Secretariat. We also have a specialised function – Barratt Partnerships. While the work varies from team to team, our key requirements don’t: you must be well organised, extremely helpful and resourceful, and able to use your initiative. You’ll understand that what you do is important, and impacts on your team, the department, and the wider business.
Reporting to the Finance Projects Director, you will lead the GSC Finance team to drive high quality accounting, financial reporting and analysis for Barratt Redrow’s GSC functions and critical projects, whilst also supporting the divisions as required. Ensure appropriate levels of financial control are deployed within the GSC functions.
You will be expected to:
- Own the accounting, financial reporting and analysis processes for all the GSC functions and projects, valued at >£100m p.a. (Barratt stand alone).
- Liaise with Heads of Group functions to review and finalise actual monthly spend.
- Close the month-end in accordance with Group reporting timetable.
- Prepare and review monthly management accounts that meet stakeholders' needs: share summary results with Director of Finance and Head of functions.
- Lead on the preparation and review of monthly Balance Sheet analysis and reconciliations (accruals, prepayments, payroll etc.).
- Team leadership: set the direction and manage the Central Finance team, comprising two direct reports (Assistant Accountants).
- Mentor, monitor and manage team members' performance and development.
- Collaborate with the FP&A team, providing them with detailed reporting to enable them to accurately forecast the spend for each Group function.
- Collaborate with the Group Reporting team and ensure audit schedules are prepared within reporting timelines, and work with external auditors for the corporate centre.
- Prepare Consolidation & Tax Packs at half-year and year-end.
- Review weekly 6-week cash flow reporting cycle for Group Finance.
- Review and approve purchase orders, invoices and CHAPS payments in line with the Delegation of Authority.
- Define and drive the delivery of streamlined processes and efficiencies, including streamlining inter-company processes and recharging.
- Support project work as defined by Group Director of Finance.
- Support on the transition work for transferring Redrow Group Services to Barratt Redrow.
- Provide support to the Finance Projects Director to manage and deliver key projects.
What you’ll need:
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA).
- A motivated team leader, focused on managing, coaching and developing the team to achieve their full potential.
- Customer focused, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills when dealing with internal and external customers at all levels.
- Highly driven with a broad skill set and a proven track record.
- Highly numerate, with the ability to interpret and utilise financial data.

- Commercial acumen, with an awareness of housebuilding finance, relevant legislation and changes in the market.
