Role Overview
The Business Development Executive (BDE) is the entry-level position within the New Business Sales team. It is designed for ambitious, hardworking individuals who want to build a career in sales. While prior sales experience is not essential, attitude, drive, and willingness to learn are critical. The BDE will focus on generating new opportunities, supporting the wider sales team, and carrying a small individual sales target to build confidence and accountability. This is a hybrid role requiring two days per week in our Malmesbury, UK office to foster collaboration and team culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales Delivery
- Carry a small individual new business target, working towards consistent delivery.
- Proactively identify and qualify potential clients through research, outbound prospecting, and networking.
- Manage inbound and outbound sales execution, optimising conversion rates across the funnel.
- Generate leads and book qualified meetings for more senior team members, while also developing personal opportunities.
- Manage the early stages of the sales cycle, including discovery calls and needs qualification.
- Attend trade shows, industry events, and networking sessions to build experience and generate leads.
- Participate fully in training, mentoring, and coaching to build product knowledge and sales skills.
- Shadow senior colleagues in client meetings and pitches to gain exposure to the full sales process.
- Take ownership of personal development, applying feedback to continually improve.
- Demonstrate ambition and readiness to progress into more senior roles over time.
- Support colleagues by following up on campaigns, events, and marketing-generated leads.
- Maintain accurate CRM records to ensure visibility of pipeline and activity.
- Bring energy, resilience, and a positive mindset to the team environment.
- Contribute to a culture of collaboration, accountability, and client focus.
KPIs & Performance Measures
- Lead Response
- 100% of MQLs called within 10-15 minutes during working hours.
- 40-60 outbound calls per day (mix of MQL follow-up and targeted outbound).
- Execution of agreed outreach cadences (minimum 5 contact attempts per MQL/target contact).
- Small personal target e.g. £10,000 year 1 (ACV) per month.
- Targeted on qualified meetings set for BDMs and the senior sales team.
- Contribution to pipeline generation and influence on revenue tracked via CRM.
