This is a great opportunity for an experienced VP Engineering to lead and inspire current Backend (Java) Engineering & QA teams. The successful candidate will have a background in software development and bring strong technical instincts while leading a growing, multi-disciplinary team. This role is focused on people leadership, team management, and driving software delivery. Experience in financial services software development is a significant advantage, although specific domain knowledge is not essential.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Lead and manage the software engineering teams within the UK and in Holland.
- Own and drive the software delivery plan, collaborating with Product Management to prioritise and schedule work.
- Ensure the engineering teams adhere to company policies, fostering transparency, continuous improvement, and best practices.
- Work with other Engineering Managers to promote cross-team collaboration, share resources, and enhance product integration.
Ideal experience & skills:
- Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary, multi-site engineering teams.
- Strong technical background with expertise in Java development.
- Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate teams and mentor future engineering leaders.
- A deep understanding of large financial services clients’ needs, with a focus on delivering mission-critical, high-volume, near real-time systems.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to represent the organisation to clients and stakeholders.
- Ability to adapt to change and effectively communicate its impact.
