A leading organisation requires a Junior Datacenter Engineer to join its growing team.
Qualifications
- Technical Expertise: Working knowledge of critical infrastructure, including electrical systems (switchgear, generators) and HVAC systems.
- Problem‑Solving: Ability to troubleshoot systems under pressure.
- Collaboration & Communication: Ability to work with IT, contractors, and vendors.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work on‑call, weekends, or holidays to ensure 24/7 operations are met.
Additional experience includes working knowledge of LV electrical systems, HVAC, and security systems.
Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Maintenance: Monitor and maintain power (UPS, generators), cooling, and fire detection/suppression systems.
- Troubleshooting & Repair: Actively diagnose mechanical and electrical issues.
- Preventative Maintenance: Perform daily, weekly, or monthly inspections of infrastructure using PPM schedules; work on site with external contractors and supervise contractors for repairs.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, including OSHA and site‑specific policies.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Use building management systems (BMS) to monitor systems and react to changes.
- Project Coordination: Assist clients onto the data floor to ensure best practice is followed in the safe racking of equipment.
- Travel: Travel as required to other sites to assist during times of staff shortage or specific projects requiring additional personnel.
