A leading organisation in the Bristol area requires an experienced Infrastructure and Network Manager to lead a team responsible for the availability, resilience, and security of enterprise infrastructure and network platforms. This is a management role with a strong focus on leadership, governance, and operational resilience. The successful candidate will ensure that critical infrastructure services meet regulatory, security, and business continuity requirements, while acting as a trusted partner to senior technology, risk, and business stakeholders.
Suitable candidates will have experience of the following:
- Leading, developing, and performance-managing an infrastructure and network engineering team, setting clear objectives and developing a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Providing oversight of virtualisation platforms (VMware vSphere, NSX), physical compute, and enterprise storage (NetApp SAN/NAS/HCI) through effective team leadership and vendor management.
- Governing complex data centre and enterprise network architectures, including LAN/WAN, VLAN/VxLAN segmentation, firewalls, and VPN technologies.
- Defining and assuring backup, disaster recovery, and operational resilience strategies and ensuring they are aligned to business and regulatory expectations.
- Establishing and enforcing infrastructure security and configuration standards and aligning these with ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, and internal risk frameworks.
- Driving service improvement through standardisation, automation, and Infrastructure-as-Code initiatives, improving stability, control, and operational efficiency.
- Managing third-party suppliers and strategic partners, including contract negotiation, SLA governance, and service performance reviews.
- Acting as a senior escalation point and advisor, clearly articulating infrastructure risk, control posture, and resilience to senior leadership.
- Owning operational governance of enterprise-scale on-premises and co-location hosting environments supporting business-critical systems.
