  • Oversee vulnerability remediation and ensure systems are regularly updated and securely maintained.
  • Develop and maintain reliable backup, recovery and business continuity processes, including regular testing.
  • Configure and support firewalls, VPNs, network services and infrastructure monitoring.
  • Manage and strengthen email security controls, helping protect the organisation against phishing, spoofing and data loss.
  • Contribute to major technology changes, including infrastructure upgrades, migrations and new system rollouts.
  • Work with internal IT teams and external technology partners to resolve complex issues and deliver technical improvements.
  • Analyse recurring problems and identify opportunities to improve the reliability and efficiency of the IT environment.

  • Solid background in 3rd Line Support, Infrastructure, Network or Cloud Engineering.
  • Strong practical experience across Microsoft Azure, particularly Azure networking and security services.
  • Good understanding of enterprise networking, including routing, switching, VLANs, DNS, VPNs and network security.
  • Experience working with enterprise firewall technologies such as Palo Alto, Fortinet or Cisco.
  • Strong knowledge of Entra ID and Microsoft cloud identity, including Conditional Access and privileged access controls.
  • Experience implementing and supporting backup and disaster recovery solutions, ideally with Veeam or Azure Site Recovery.
  • Previous involvement in vulnerability, patch and security management within an enterprise environment.
  • Experience securing corporate email using platforms such as Mimecast, Proofpoint or Microsoft Defender.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure and network monitoring solutions such as PRTG, Solar Winds or similar.
  • Experience supporting Hyper-V and/or wider cloud infrastructure.
  • Comfortable using Power Shell or similar scripting tools to automate tasks and improve efficiency.
  • Knowledge of security monitoring/SIEM technologies such as Microsoft Sentinel or Splunk would be beneficial.
  • Relevant technical certification such as CCNA or AZ-104 is essential.
  • AZ-500, AZ-700 or ITIL certification would be advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently on complex technical issues.

How to prepare for a job interview at RedRock Resourcing

Brush Up on Your Technical Skills

For an IT consulting role, be ready to demonstrate your technical prowess. You might face questions on systems integration, cloud technologies, or even troubleshooting specific software. If you have experience with tools like AWS, Azure, or even specific programming languages, make sure you can talk about them fluently.

Showcase Your Problem-Solving Approach

IT consulting is all about solving problems for clients. Think about how you can illustrate your approach to a past challenge using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). It's a great way to show how you tackle complex issues and come up with effective solutions.

Know the Business Impact of IT Solutions

When discussing your experiences, focus not just on the tech solutions you implemented, but also on their business impact. Employers want to see that you can connect IT with organisational goals. Prep examples that highlight how your tech contributions improved efficiency or reduced costs for past clients or projects.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

Since IT consulting often involves teamwork and client interactions, expect behavioural questions that assess your interpersonal skills. Be prepared with examples that demonstrate your adaptability, communication skills, and how you handle client feedback. Before the interview, think of situations where you worked closely with clients to create effective IT strategies or changes.
