Test Analyst
Location: Bath (Hybrid)
Overview of the Role
This position is responsible for supporting the delivery of reliable, high-quality software through effective testing practices. Working alongside developers, analysts, and project stakeholders, the role focuses on validating functionality, identifying defects, and contributing to continuous improvement across the development lifecycle.
Experience
- Strong experience in software testing or a similar QA role
- Familiarity with testing principles, methodologies, and debugging techniques
- Experience creating and executing structured test cases and plans
- Exposure to testing complex web-based applications
- Strong understanding of requirement analysis and test design
- Awareness of how software solutions operate within business environments
- Understanding of the full software development lifecycle
- Strong command of written and spoken English
Key Responsibilities
- Review and interpret user stories and requirements to ensure clarity before testing begins
- Gain an understanding of the business processes supported by the system
- Define suitable testing approaches for assigned work and align with team members
- Produce and maintain relevant test documentation
- Estimate effort required for testing activities
- Collaborate with team members to plan testing timelines within development cycles
- Design test cases that fully cover functional requirements
- Conduct peer reviews to maintain quality and consistency
- Execute tests, record outcomes, and track time spent
- Investigate issues identified during testing and liaise with developers to resolve them
- Accurately document and manage defects through to resolution
- Re-test fixes to confirm successful resolution
- Support the introduction and development of automated testing where applicable
- Take part in team discussions, feedback sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure adherence to internal standards, policies, and procedures
