We are looking for a proactive and financially astute Group Finance Manager to join the Flashpoint Climbing Group. This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of a growing organisation, combining finance operations, payroll, cashflow management, reporting and strategic support across multiple businesses.

This role would suit someone who enjoys ownership and autonomy, thrives on organisation and accuracy, and wants to play a meaningful role in shaping efficient financial systems within a friendly and community-driven business.

About the Role

Working closely with the CEO and Directors, you’ll oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the group while helping to improve systems, reporting and processes as we continue to grow. You’ll manage and support our Finance Assistant, oversee payroll and HMRC compliance, coordinate financial reporting with our accountants, and help provide the commercial insight that supports business decisions across the group.

No two days are the same. One day you may be refining cashflow forecasts or analysing KPIs, and the next you may be solving supplier queries, improving reporting systems or supporting budgeting decisions with the Directors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Operations & Reporting
    • Oversee monthly financial reporting across the group
    • Liaise with external accountants to support management accounts, VAT returns and year-end processes
    • Maintain accurate accounting systems, including QuickBooks and AutoEntry
    • Monitor balance sheets, supplier accounts and financial controls
  • Payroll & Compliance
    • Ensure payroll is processed accurately and efficiently across the group
    • Manage sickness, parental leave and expenses processes
    • Ensure all HMRC obligations are met on time, including PAYE, VAT and National Insurance
  • Cashflow & Budgeting
    • Create and maintain group cashflow forecasts
    • Support Directors with budgeting and financial planning
    • Monitor budget usage and approve discretionary spend requests
    • Help ensure resources are used efficiently across the group
  • Leadership & Support
    • Line manage and support the Finance Assistant
    • Help develop efficient finance processes as the business grows
    • Support managers across the business with finance-related queries
  • KPI & Business Performance
    • Produce monthly KPI reports and balanced scorecards
    • Support reporting and analysis for centre and café performance
    • Monitor company credit card spending and financial controls

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong financial knowledge with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience line managing or mentoring colleagues.
  • Strong understanding of payroll, PAYE, VAT and HMRC compliance.
  • At least 2 years’ payroll experience, including sickness and parental leave calculations.
  • Experience using systems such as Google Sheets, Excel, QuickBooks and AutoEntry or similar.
  • Excellent spreadsheet skills and confidence working with financial data.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities across different businesses.
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues.
  • A proactive mindset with an interest in improving systems and processes.

We’d Especially Love Someone Who…

  • Enjoys analysing data and cashflow trends.
  • Has a commercially minded “business brain”.
  • Is excited by continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Is open to learning new tools and using AI to improve workflows and processes.

Why Join Flashpoint?

We’re passionate about creating great spaces, communities and experiences. We want our team to enjoy working here too.
