Our client is a market leading, high-quality, design and manufacturing company. We are currently seeking a Senior Tooling Engineer to join the Production Engineering Team. The Senior Tooling Engineer specialises in creating tooling solutions for moulding as well as Jigs & Fixtures for new and existing production needs. The Senior Tooling Engineer is responsible for the development of Tooling Design Solutions to support various processing techniques.
Responsibilities include:
- Taking part designs from R&D and delivering final production tooling designs to allow volume component manufacture.
- Redesign of existing production tooling, revamping tooling standards to reduce production costs, labour time and scrap whilst also researching new tooling concepts.
- Coordinating all tool design work passing through the department including prioritising design work and ensuring tooling design reviews are conducted in a timely manner.
Qualifications and skills sought include:
- Minimum HNC qualification within Manufacturing / Production environment or Lean Industrial experience.
- Engineering experience in Assembly/ Plastics / Automotive / FMCG Environment.
- Experience of low volume and batch production environments.
- Good working knowledge of 6 Sigma.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in the practical application of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement techniques, including 5s, 7 Wastes, 7 Quality tools, TPM and Statistical Process Capability.
- Injection moulding experience or knowledge of the plastic industry.
- Process evaluation and improvement, including leading PFMEAs.
- Project management of changes to the Production Process.
- Production, Control, and issue of standard operating procedures.
- Specification and evaluation of new equipment.
- Design of jigs & fixtures to enable cost-effective and efficient manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge and experience of SolidWorks 3D CAD software.
- Capable of producing working drawings to support fixture design and manufacture.
- Knowledge and experience with manufacturing equipment used for an injection moulding process.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and the use to control product manufacture.
- Prior involvement with Planned Preventative Maintenance for equipment.
- Knowledge of CNC machining processes beneficial.
- Able to make use of manual workshop machinery e.g. lathes and turret milling machines, cutting saws, pillar drills etc.
