We are seeking an experienced, values-led Registered Manager (or strong Deputy Manager ready for progression) to lead a children's residential home through Ofsted registration and into operation. This role is suited to a confident leader who understands how to establish compliant, high-quality practice from the outset, and who values autonomy, clarity, and professional support.
The Role
- You will have overall responsibility for the leadership, management, and regulatory compliance of the home, ensuring safe, nurturing care and positive outcomes for young people.
- An initial registration visit with Ofsted has already taken place, and you will need to lead the next stage of the registration process, embedding robust systems and governance and developing a stable, motivated staff team within a supported leadership structure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the home through the Ofsted registration process and ongoing inspection readiness.
- Ensure compliance with the Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
- Embed policies, procedures, and safeguarding practice into daily operations.
- Act as senior safeguarding lead and oversee quality assurance and governance systems.
- Contribute to the selection and appointment of staff through participation in interviews and appointment decisions, with recruitment advertising and coordination managed centrally.
- Manage rotas, staffing structures, and labour costs in line with children's needs.
- Provide consistent, visible leadership that promotes stability, accountability, and reflective practice.
- Ensure young people's emotional, educational, health, and social needs are met.
- Oversee care planning, risk assessments, PEPs, and health action plans.
- Work effectively with local authorities, professionals, and commissioning teams.
Essential Requirements
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Children's Residential Care (or working towards for Deputies).
- Experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager within a children's residential home.
- Experience supporting Ofsted inspections and working within an inspection-led environment.
- Strong working knowledge of safeguarding and children's residential regulations.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and manage teams within a regulated service.

Additional Information
