Our client is an established and growing professional services organisation based in Cardiff and is seeking an experienced Accounts Manager to lead and manage its financial operations. This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who can take ownership of the firms accounts, ensure regulatory compliance and provide high-quality financial information to support senior-level decision-making. The successful candidate will ideally have experience within a law firm or professional services environment, with a strong understanding of financial management, compliance and relevant legal accounting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the firms day-to-day financial management and accounting operations.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
- Manage client and office accounts in line with relevant legal accounting regulations.
- Ensure compliance with legal accounting rules and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor cash flow, budgets and financial forecasts.
- Lead, supervise and support the accounts team.
- Manage VAT returns, tax compliance and statutory reporting.
- Oversee billing, invoicing and credit control.
- Liaise with external auditors, banks and financial advisers.
- Maintain effective financial controls and accounting procedures.
- Provide financial analysis and insight to partners to support business decisions.
- Oversee payroll and related financial obligations where required.
Required
- Proven experience as an Accounts Manager, Finance Manager, Senior Accountant or similar.
- Previous experience within a law firm or professional services environment is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of legal accounting, financial controls and compliance requirements.
Desirable
- A professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of accounting software and financial systems.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent communication, organisation and attention to detail.
- A high level of integrity and professionalism.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership and provide commercially focused financial advice.
