We are recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead the engineering function within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This pivotal role will be responsible for maximising equipment reliability, developing and delivering the site's maintenance strategy, leading engineering teams, and driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, productivity, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all engineering and maintenance activities, ensuring the highest standards of Health & Safety, including Safe Systems of Work, LOTO procedures, risk assessments, and compliance with statutory requirements.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programmes across all plant and equipment.
- Drive improvements in machine reliability, uptime and OEE through effective maintenance planning and root cause analysis.
- Coordinate engineering response to breakdowns, minimising production downtime and ensuring rapid resolution of issues.
- Lead, coach, and develop Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, apprentices, and contractors to build a high-performing engineering team.
- Manage contractor activities, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and in line with company standards.
- Support the installation, commissioning and optimisation of new equipment while developing long-term asset lifecycle plans.
- Manage critical spare parts inventory, maintaining appropriate stock levels and ensuring availability of key components.
- Control engineering budgets, identify cost-saving opportunities and improve maintenance efficiency through data-led decision making.
- Maintain engineering documentation, maintenance records, and quality standards to ensure equipment consistently meets production requirements.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, safety, productivity, condition-based monitoring, and waste reduction.
About You
- Time-served Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
- Significant experience within a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding capability.
- Proven experience developing and implementing PPM strategies.
- Excellent root cause analysis, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong planning, organisation, and prioritisation abilities.
- Experience leading, motivating, and developing engineering teams.
- High level of Health & Safety awareness and knowledge of safe isolation procedures.
- HNC/HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering would be advantageous.
