Role Summary

Our client is looking for a motivated and reliable Firestopping Engineer to join their growing fire protection team. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone looking to build or further develop a career within fire safety and passive fire protection. As a Firestopping Engineer, you will play a vital role in maintaining fire safety integrity across a variety of sites by installing fire-resistant systems that prevent the spread of fire, smoke, and heat. Your work will help ensure that fire-rated walls and floors perform as intended, improving overall building safety. You will also be expected to maintain a professional approach at all times, ensuring excellent service delivery and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install firestopping systems to seal gaps and penetrations in walls and floors
  • Prevent the spread of fire, smoke, and heat through effective passive fire protection measures
  • Read and interpret drawings and fire safety plans
  • Use approved fire-resistant materials and installation methods
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair existing firestopping systems
  • Ensure all work complies with current fire safety regulations and industry standards
  • Consistently achieve agreed performance targets
  • Promote additional fire protection services to new and existing customers where appropriate
  • Keep the Passive Fire Protection Manager updated on project progress and any potential delays

Key Skills & Attributes

  • NVQ Level 2 in Passive Fire Protection preferred
  • FIRAS card preferred but not essential
  • Previous experience with fire barrier systems, including Rockwool Curtains, preferred
  • Previous experience in ablative batt installation preferred
  • Willingness to learn and use PDA/software systems
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage your own workload and diary effectively
  • Punctual, professional, and able to work as part of a busy fire safety team
