We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Management Accountant to join a growing business in Bristol. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will play a key role in providing high-quality financial information, supporting business decision-making, and ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day finance operations.

The Role
As Management Accountant, you will be responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting budgeting and forecasting activities, maintaining strong financial controls, and ensuring finance processes operate efficiently and effectively. Your responsibilities will include:
- Financial Reporting & Management Accounts
- Prepare monthly management accounts within agreed reporting deadlines
- Provide insightful commentary and variance analysis against budget and prior periods
- Support the preparation of annual statutory accounts
- Act as the key contact for external auditors during the annual audit process
- Prepare monthly VAT returns for review and submission
- Management Information & Analysis
- Produce high-quality management information to support informed decision-making
- Analyse financial performance and identify key trends and risks
- Investigate and explain variances against budget and forecast
- Respond to ad hoc reporting and analysis requests from stakeholders
- Budgeting & Forecasting
- Support annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes
- Maintain and monitor short-term cash flow forecasts
- Assist with financial modelling and planning assumptions
- Identify emerging trends and financial risks to support business planning
- Payroll, Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Manage the day-to-day Accounts Payable function
- Oversee monthly payroll processing and ensure accuracy
- Manage Accounts Receivable activities and cash collection processes
- Handle supplier and finance-related queries through to resolution
- Support effective cash flow management and working capital control
- Stock & Margin Reporting
- Oversee monthly stock reconciliations
- Calculate and analyse gross margins
- Investigate stock variances and discrepancies
- Provide meaningful commentary to support business understanding
- Process Improvement & Controls
- Help develop and maintain a strong financial control environment
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and efficiencies
- Ensure financial records are accurate, secure, and well maintained
- Support the continued growth and development of finance systems and procedures
Essential
- AAT qualified, part-qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA, or qualified by experience
- Previous experience operating at Management Accountant level
- Experience producing management accounts and financial reporting
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Experience using Sage, Xero, or similar accounting systems
- Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines
- Strong organisational and communication skills
Desirable
- Fully qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience within a healthcare, pharmacy, regulated, or fast-paced operational environment
- Experience supporting budgeting and forecasting processes
