Our client is a modern and fast-growing firm of Chartered Accountants who are looking for a capable and motivated Assistant Accountant to join their team. This job role will be a placement at one of their valued clients. This hybrid role typically involves three days per week on-site in Swansea office and two days remote.

This is a hands-on opportunity to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function for an ambitious business, while receiving expert guidance and support from our clients leadership, including direct input from the Managing Partner, a former Big 4 Chartered Accountant.

The Role

As the on-site finance lead, you will be responsible for managing the clients internal finance operations and acting as a key liaison between the Swansea based client and your Managing Partner and the wider group.

Essential skills and experience

  • AAT qualified (or qualified by experience)
  • 2+ years in a finance or accountancy role
  • Solid experience using Xero
  • Able to manage a busy finance function independently
  • Confident communicator, comfortable consulting with internal and external stakeholders
  • Organised, detail-oriented, and proactive

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the finance function
  • Raise and manage sales invoices, customer accounts, and WIP tracking
  • Manage credit control processes and debtor management
  • Monitor and track staff hours for payroll reporting
  • Maintain accurate bookkeeping records in Xero
  • Support the preparation of management accounts and reporting packs
  • Function as a financial gatekeeper between the client, your Managing Partner and group stakeholders
