Overview
You will lead defence and security business development for allocated UK and international territories, driving long-cycle opportunities and major campaigns. You’ll coordinate cross-functional teams to shape bids and engage senior defence stakeholders. The role focuses on growing strategic relationships with primes, OEMs and export customers within regulated procurement environments. This is a high-visibility, autonomous position offering international travel and potential for long-term growth in a fast-evolving advanced technology organisation.

Responsibilities
- Manage and prioritise defence and security sales opportunities across territories
- Develop and maintain relationships with military, government and defence stakeholders
- Identify and pursue new international business opportunities in defence and aerospace
- Support defence sales campaigns from opportunity qualification to contract award
- Coordinate with distributed commercial teams for aligned messaging and campaign execution
- Lead outreach to new and existing defence customers
- Coach/mentor junior sales personnel as the team grows
- Collaborate with engineering, programme and marketing teams on bids and customer engagements
- Represent the organisation at defence exhibitions and industry forums
- Maintain CRM records and opportunity tracking
- Gather customer feedback to inform product development
- Develop strategic relationships with defence primes, aerospace OEMs and export customers
Key requirements
- Experience in aerospace, defence, national security or complex B2B environments
- Proven track record in long-cycle government or regulated sales
- Strong understanding of defence procurement and stakeholder environments
- Experience selling engineered hardware or complex manufactured products
- Hunter mentality with autonomous new business generation
- International/export sales experience in defence/aerospace
- CRM usage and structured sales methodologies
- Excellent communication/presentation skills with senior stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills managing multiple campaigns
- Experience coaching/mentoring junior sales staff
- Ability to interpret and communicate technical product information
- Resilient, self-motivated, autonomous across dispersed teams
