An On-Site Test Rig Engineer is sought to join an industry-leading engineering organisation in Wolverhampton, contributing to the calibration, testing, and verification of production test rig equipment across electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic domains. The On-Site Test Rig Engineer will be expected to develop your understanding in the field, learning from peers and senior engineers in technical areas and industry best practices. This may include calibration methods, metrology standards, test rig instrumentation, and engineering processes used in customer production environments.
Responsibilities include:
- Work with wider engineering and quality teams to define calibration requirements and ensure test rig measurement systems remain compliant.
- Perform calibration of electrical, temperature, load, force, flow and pressure instrumentation using approved procedures and metrology best practices.
- Develop, review, and audit calibration procedures for customer equipment.
- Create and maintain measurement uncertainty budgets for calibrations.
- Maintain accurate and traceable calibration records, certificates, and documentation within internal management systems.
- Support customer audits, accreditation visits, and internal quality assessments.
- Collaborate with on-site engineering teams to investigate, diagnose, and resolve issues with customer test rig instrumentation.
- Support additional engineering tasks as required, receiving training where needed.
Key skills & experience:
- Formal qualification in an engineering discipline or extensive demonstrable calibration experience.
- Electrical diagnostic background with strong understanding of calibration principles.
- Knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic systems.
- Experience with jig/tool recertification (advantageous).
- Strong communication and reporting abilities.
- Ability to work in a customer-focused environment, delivering high standards of service.
