Our client, a forward-thinking company in the robotics industry, is driving innovation with autonomous solutions designed to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. They are currently seeking a Contract Robotics Controls Engineer on an initial 3-month assignment, working on site in Cambridgeshire.
As our client is considered exempt for IR35 purposes, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing IR35 status, should you wish to operate via your own PSC. You will join a highly skilled robotics engineering team, supporting the development and optimisation of an autonomous robotic platform.
You will be experienced in C++, ROS and robotic motion control, with strong hands-on experience working with stepper motors and associated motor controllers. The role will involve tuning and optimising motor performance, troubleshooting motion-control issues and improving the smoothness, reliability and overall performance of the robotic system.
This role will suit an engineer with strong practical robotics controls experience who can quickly understand an existing system, diagnose complex motion-control problems and deliver effective solutions.
Key Skills:
- Strong C++ development experience
- ROS / ROS2 experience
- Hands-on stepper motor and motor controller experience
- Robotics controls / motion control experience
- Motor tuning, configuration and troubleshooting experience
- Trajectory planning/ motion planning experience
- Multi-axis robotic systems experience
