My client, who are an Engineering company providing calibration and repair services for Aerospace, Defence/Military and Marine sectors, are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, based in Hertfordshire to join their team. The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager and work with Product Design Services. The role requires an 'all-round' mechanical engineer to work in post design support for military communications products. You will be involved in almost all aspects of new product development and installed product support; from initial design, specification capture, assembly and testing, to in-field support and potentially on-site training of equipment operation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and modifying electro/mechanical models and drawings of RF products for VLF/LF communications systems.
  • Working with engineering change note procedures.
  • Managing sub-suppliers for products; purchasing, inspection, specification writing etc.
  • Managing Autodesk software and support services.

The successful Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will have:

  • Experience of Autodesk Inventor in the last 7 years.
  • Experience working with Engineering Change Request / Notice (ECR's / ECN's) systems.
  • Experience of working with drawings to BS8888.
  • Experience dealing with sub-suppliers of components, sub-assemblies and mechanical services (machining and/or box-build).
  • Understanding of obsolescence issues and mitigation strategies for mechanical designs.
