An opportunity has arisen for an Electromagnetics & Controls Engineer based in Reading, Berkshire to join an exciting start-up specialising in propulsion systems. The main purpose of the role will be to own the electro-magnetic design of motors and the control algorithms that drive them. You will design the electromagnetic architecture of the motor, slot/pole configurations, winding topologies, magnet strategy, rotor and stator geometry — using Motor‑CAD or equivalent electromagnetic FEA.
Some of the key experiences and competencies required include:
- Strong understanding of electromagnetic motor design and motor control algorithm development
- A background in electromagnetic FEA for motor design — Motor‑CAD, FEMM, JMAG, or equivalent — with experience optimising winding and magnetic circuit parameters
- Experience with winding design: conductor selection, turn count and fill factor optimisation, winding topology trade‑offs and thermal parameters
This is a rare opportunity to join a start‑up right at the core of the founding team. You will make a genuine impact from day 1 with your contributions.
