Are you an experienced Software Engineer with strong expertise in modern C++, Linux, and robotics software development? Are you based in Portugal, or interested in joining a pioneering autonomous robotics company developing advanced technology for real-world environments?

If so, our client - Fieldwork Robotics, an innovative robotics technology company - is looking to hire a Fleet Control and Data Acquisition Software Engineer based in Portugal, supporting global engineering teams across the UK, Europe, Australia, and the USA.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and optimise modern C++ software for robotic platforms, focusing on fleet control, data acquisition, and performance monitoring
  • Develop real-time data pipelines to capture, aggregate, transfer, and analyse robotic system data
  • Identify and integrate fleet management frameworks such as Open RMF to support autonomous robot scheduling
  • Collaborate with robotics, vision, machine learning, mechanical, and electronics teams within an Agile development environment
  • Test, debug, and validate software performance, reliability, and deployment readiness

To be successful, you should have:

  • 3+ Years experience in an industry Software Design position
  • A degree (or Master's) in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline
  • Strong commercial experience with modern C++ (C++11-20) and Linux
  • Experience with performance testing, profiling, and software optimisation
  • Experience with databases, ideally PostgreSQL, and data-driven software systems
  • Experience with robotics software development and integration (ROS2 experience beneficial)
