An opportunity has arisen for a Hardware Engineer to join a manufacturing company that specializes in the manufacture of electrical test equipment and measuring instruments, based in Kent.
As a Hardware Engineer, you will report into the Head of Hardware Design and play a vital role in the design and development of hardware for electronic equipment, requiring embedded control solutions. You will be responsible for contributing to the maintenance of existing products and supporting new product development programs. This involves designing and implementing hardware solutions for portable test instruments used in the installation and maintenance of electronic systems.
Other responsibilities include:
- Design electronic circuits according to specifications, including simulation and laboratory testing.
- Perform PCB layouts using appropriate software tools.
- Create detailed documentation, including schematics, circuit descriptions, and BOMs, considering cost, functionality, and obsolescence factors.
- Collaborate with firmware and mechanical engineers on new product designs.
- Ensure all design files and records comply with company quality assurance processes and international standards.
- Adhere to project timelines and milestones as outlined in plans and Gantt charts.
- Support engineering managers by reporting design progress and providing updates.
The successful Hardware Engineer will have experience within a related field and proficiency in both analogue and digital electronics design. Familiarity with quality and design standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IEC 61010, IEC 61557, MIL Spec), proficiency in using ECAD design tools, and competence in simulation tools (e.g., SPICE, MathCAD, Matlab, Simulink) would be desirable.
