A Development Engineer is sought to join an innovative engineering team in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, contributing to the research, development and testing of innovative fire detection technologies. The Development Engineer will work across new product development and sustaining engineering, using practical engineering skills to investigate technologies, test prototypes and solve technical challenges.

Responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out technical research, investigations and prototype testing
  • Evaluating competitor products and alternative technologies
  • Analysing test results and engineering data to support development decisions
  • Conducting bench testing, fault finding and root-cause analysis
  • Producing technical reports and communicating findings to engineering teams
  • Working collaboratively across development and production engineering teams
  • Supporting the development of robust, high-quality fire detection products

The Development Engineer will have the following key skills:

  • Practical engineering, product development, R&D or technical investigation experience
  • Knowledge of electronics, schematics, datasheets and circuit prototyping
  • Experience using Python or MATLAB for engineering analysis or test automation
  • Hands-on experience with prototypes, test equipment and experimental setups
  • Degree in Electronics Engineering, Physics, Software Engineering or a related discipline
