This role focuses on producing highly accurate production planning data from engineering drawings, ensuring ERP and MRP systems support efficient manufacturing, purchasing, and delivery across Redler Limited.
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Production Planning Engineer to join Redler, a specialist mechanical handling engineering organisation. As a Production Planning Engineer you will sit at the centre of engineering, production, purchasing, and sales, converting complex engineering information into accurate, reliable production data used throughout the business. The Production Planning Engineer will be responsible for ensuring all ERP data, bills of materials, cycle times, and work instructions are correct, consistent, and available to both upstream and downstream teams. This office-based role is well suited to a calm, organised, and analytical engineer who enjoys accuracy, collaboration, and continual improvement within a manufacturing environment.
DUTIESYour duties as the Production Planning Engineer include:
- ERP and MRP Management: Creating, maintaining, and controlling all production planning data within ERP and MRP systems
- Bill of Materials Accuracy: Building and managing precise BOMs aligned with engineering drawings and specifications
- Routing and Cycle Time Control: Maintaining accurate operation times to support production scheduling, costing, and capacity planning
- Work Instruction Creation: Producing clear, structured work instructions to support production and procurement teams
- Buy and Make Decisions: Supporting effective sourcing and manufacturing decisions to achieve best overall cost
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Working closely with sales, proposals, engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing teams
- Sales Order Processing: Using ERP systems and digital tools to process orders efficiently and accurately
- New Product Introduction Support: Integrating planning requirements, BOMs, costings, and instructions for new products
- Data Integrity and Compliance: Ensuring all released data is 100% accurate and aligned with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
- Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities to improve planning processes, data accuracy, and system efficiency
ESSENTIAL
- Previous experience in production planning, manufacturing engineering, or a similar role
- A background in mechanical engineering, ideally with exposure to steel fabrication or fabricated components
- Proven experience creating and maintaining bills of materials and work instructions
- Very strong IT skills, with advanced Excel capability including data import, export, manipulation, and analysis
- Experience using ERP systems, ideally Microsoft Dynamics
- Exceptional attention to detail, with a commitment to releasing fully accurate data
- A calm, organised approach with the ability to prioritise multiple production demands
- Strong analytical skills, with confidence interpreting engineering drawings and technical data
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams
DESIRABLE
- Experience within a mechanical handling or manufacturing engineering environment
- Understanding of machining processes, fabrication techniques, laser cutting, and material specifications
- Familiarity with ISO standards and quality management systems
- A continual improvement mindset, embracing new methods to improve efficiency and accuracy
