An ambitious, forward-thinking law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Innovation Manager with a background in legal practice to join its legal transformation and innovation team. The Senior Innovation Manager will play a leading role in shaping and delivering innovation and legal transformation initiatives across the firm and for its clients. Working closely with clients, lawyers and business services teams, they will design and deliver new products, services and ways of working that improve outcomes, efficiency and client experience. They will be instrumental in embedding a strong culture of innovation, delivering measurable results and building sustainable competitive advantage through technology, process and data-driven change. The role also includes a key contribution to a firmwide generative AI and intelligent technology programme, ensuring successful delivery and adoption at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Work directly with clients to understand their needs and design innovative legal products and services.
- Partner with legal teams to identify opportunities to improve client experience, service delivery and operational efficiency.
- Act as a trusted advisor on service-line innovation and transformation initiatives.
- Identify, evaluate and prioritise innovation opportunities across legal services.
- Lead end-to-end innovation initiatives from ideation through to implementation.
- Translate complex requirements into clear delivery roadmaps aligned to strategic objectives.
- Design and implement solutions using agile, user-centred methodologies.
- Advance the adoption of generative AI and intelligent legal technologies across the firm.
- Integrate existing solutions with new ideas to deliver practical, scalable outcomes.
- Stay ahead of emerging trends in legal innovation, technology and operations.
Commercial & Value Focus
- Develop robust business cases and ROI assessments for innovation initiatives.
- Define KPIs and success measures and evaluate post-implementation value delivery.
- Continuously iterate and improve solutions to maximise impact.
- Build strong internal and external stakeholder relationships.
- Contribute to and grow an innovation champions network across legal teams.
- Facilitate workshops using design thinking and similar methodologies.
- Position the firm as a thought leader through training, speaking, reports and insight.
Consulting & Growth
- Support the growth of a legal transformation consulting offering.
- Lead client consulting engagements from discovery through to delivery.
- Identify and develop new client opportunities and long-term partnerships.
Skills & Experience
- The successful candidate will be a collaborative, commercially minded innovator with a strong legal foundation and a passion for transformation.
- Demonstrable experience delivering innovation, technology or transformation initiatives within the legal sector.
- Prior legal practice experience (ideally 5+ years PQE).
- Strong understanding of the legal market and the opportunities and challenges of legal innovation.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills.
- Proven ability to move between strategic thinking and detailed delivery.
- Experience using design thinking or human-centred innovation methodologies.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and commercial skills.
- Understanding of how legal GenAI tools can enhance legal service delivery.
- Experience with legal technology such as document automation, no-code platforms, collaboration tools or legal AI.
- Experience delivering legal transformation or consulting engagements.
- Qualifications or certifications in innovation, technology or project management.
