The position offers a rare opportunity to shape a comprehensive risk management function that spans regulated and operational entities.
This role is ideally suited to a professional with a strong background in operational risk or similar discipline, who is looking to take the lead in building a centralised risk framework with meaningful, long-term impact.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Group General Counsel, the Risk Manager will establish and embed risk management frameworks across the organisation. With a diverse portfolio of assets and operations, the role will involve identifying, assessing, and managing risks across construction, operations, decommissioning, regulatory compliance, cyber security, supply chain, and more.
Key Duties Include:

- Supporting compliance monitoring and regulatory risk management for FCA-regulated entities within the group.
- Driving the development of governance structures, including contributing to the formation of risk committees.

Key Responsibilities
- Risk Department Leadership: Establish a comprehensive, fit-for-purpose risk framework tailored to the renewable energy and investment environment.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct thorough risk assessments across all business areas and propose strategic mitigation plans.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to FCA regulations and other relevant compliance requirements in partnership with legal and compliance teams.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage with functions such as Legal, ESG, IT, Finance, HR, Procurement, and Project Delivery to embed best practices and manage third-party and outsourcing risks.
- Governance and Reporting: Produce detailed risk reports for senior leadership and boards. Support future governance evolution and crisis readiness planning.
- Culture and Training: Promote risk awareness, deliver training, and support the embedding of a strong risk-conscious culture across the group.
Other Duties: Comply with GDPR and data security protocols, health and safety requirements, and any additional tasks aligned with the business needs.
Candidate Profile

- Strong working knowledge of FCA compliance requirements.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively across departments.
Organisational Environment
The successful candidate will join a legal and compliance function that works collaboratively with HSEQ and other central teams. The group operates throughout the lifecycle of energy assets, including investment, development, operations, and asset management.
