The Manager Research team is responsible for researching and selecting best-in-class investment managers from across the world for our clients to invest in. The team is also responsible for identifying new and emerging themes, monitoring selected investment managers and delivering bespoke client projects.

Job Description

About the team

Our agile development team are responsible for building internal and client-facing applications, including research, data, analytics and interactive investment tools. We delivered these through both web interfaces and function libraries. We make a big impact on the business and believe in continuous improvement and learning with dedicated L&D days each sprint as well as access to a learning platform. It’s about focus and efficiency and ultimately delivering results.

About the role
A hands-on role leading an Agile Scrum team of developers, you will be responsible for:

  • Hands-on contribution: Actively participating in delivering development stories during the sprint and driving technical approach.
  • Scrum Lead: Facilitating agile practices and ceremonies including daily standups, sprint planning and refinement sessions. Track the team’s performance using Agile metrics like velocity, burn-down charts, and cycle time to identify areas for improvement.
  • Team Coordination: Acting as a bridge between the development team and other stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and collaboration. Helping resolve any impediments that may block the team’s progress.
  • Mentorship and Support: Providing guidance and support to team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and learning. Helping team members grow their skills and advance their careers.
  • Backlog Management: Working closely with the Product Owner to manage the product backlog, ensuring that user stories are well-defined, prioritized, and ready for development.
  • Quality Assurance: Promoting best practices in coding, testing, and deployment to ensure high-quality software delivery. Encouraging the use of automated testing and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Innovation and Improvement: Encouraging the team to experiment with new tools, techniques, and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications

This role is for you if you have the following skills, experience and attributes:

  • Experience leading a development team using an Agile Scrum approach.
  • Highly proficient in C# .NET.
  • Knowledge of React (preferable) or Angular.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies such as Azure or AWS.
  • Strong experience with a RDBMS and SQL (preferably PostgreSQL or SQL server).
  • Practical experience with microservice architecture.
  • Professional attitude (self-starter, ability to work with minimal supervision and in a team as required, ability to meet deadlines).

It would be great if you also have the following skills and experience:

  • Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related degree.
  • Experience working with Event Sourcing and CQRS.
  • Serverless development especially AWS Lambda.
  • Experience with a NoSQL database, preferably MongoDB.
