We deliver precision CNC machining, laser cutting, 3D printing, and product design services to clients across furniture, marine, automotive, events, retail, and rapid prototyping sectors. As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced and motivated Manager to join the team and take ownership of our day-to-day operations.

The Role

You will lead and manage workshop operations, ensuring jobs are delivered on time, to spec, and to the high standards our clients expect. This is a hands-on management role - you'll be working closely with the team, interpreting technical drawings, troubleshooting challenges, and driving continuous improvement across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate, and manage the workshop team to achieve operational and business goals
  • Oversee day-to-day workshop operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and on-time delivery
  • Read and review engineering and technical drawings to identify manufacturing challenges and provide recommendations
  • Develop and implement strategies to grow business opportunities and optimise workshop processes
  • Monitor financial performance including budgeting, cost control, and forecasting
  • Manage sales targets
  • Ensure full compliance with company policies, health & safety regulations, and legal requirements
  • Analyse market trends to identify new opportunities and drive continuous improvement
  • Foster a positive, collaborative work environment that encourages high performance

Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience in an operational or workshop management role
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read and interpret complex technical/engineering drawings
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage day-to-day workshop operations efficiently
  • Sound understanding of health & safety regulations and compliance requirements
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with strong logical thinking capabilities
  • High attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality work
  • Confident communicator - able to work from verbal, written, and technical instructions
  • Able to manage budgets, monitor costs, and contribute to financial performance

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in a CNC machining, laser cutting, 3D printing, or related manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in Fusion 360 and/or other CAD/CAM software
  • Experience analysing market trends and identifying business development opportunities
  • Familiarity with sales targets, merchandising strategies, or promotional activities
  • Experience managing customer relationships and ensuring high levels of satisfaction
  • Background in rapid prototyping, pattern making or furniture

Salary & Details

Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 depending on experience + performance based bonus structure

Location: Unit 13, Combs Tannery, Combs, Suffolk, IP14 2EN
