Are you an experienced Payroll Specialist ready for your next exciting role to start in May 2026? RedGreen Partners are partnering with a Manchester city centre–based national organisation to recruit an experienced Payroll Specialist for an initial 6-month fixed-term contract. This is a hands-on, operational role focused on payroll processing and transactions across a complex payroll environment. The organization has grown through acquisition, resulting in multiple weekly and monthly payrolls (some with variable pay dates). This role will be pivotal in supporting and reviewing both internal and external providers and advising on current processes and identifying practical, future-focused solutions. You’ll be proactive, inquisitive, and confident engaging directly with employees, bringing a strong customer-service mindset.
Responsibilities
- Process payroll transactions across multiple payrolls in a complex environment, including weekly and monthly cycles with variable pay dates.
- Review payroll workflows such as cut-offs/deadlines, pension contributions, approvals, and communications.
- Engage with internal stakeholders and external providers to support payroll operations and ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Provide continuous improvement and practical, future-focused solutions to drive clarity and efficiency.
- Problem-solve, contribute to process improvements, and add immediate value in a fast-moving payroll function.
- Build relationships at all levels with a customer-focused approach.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar payroll role.
- Experience managing multiple payrolls and complex payroll environments; comfortable with variable pay dates and differing weekly/monthly cycles.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and problem-solving skills.
- Customer-focused with ability to communicate effectively with employees and stakeholders at all levels.
- Proactive, inquisitive, and able to drive process improvements.
Contract details
This opportunity is a 6-month fixed-term contract with potential to go permanent for the right candidate. Salary on offer is £40k – £45k. Work arrangement: 3-4 days in the Manchester city centre office; part-time may be considered for the right person.
