Our client is the UK’s largest supplier of speciality salad, herb and vegetable seeds. Powered by innovation, their strong R&D infrastructure includes advanced glasshouses and state-of-the-art labs. Due to continued success, they are now on the search for a strategic and field-driven Technical Sales representative to accelerate sales across the South of England and into Western Europe. This role dedicates at least 70% of time to customer-facing activities, while collaborating with R&D, strategic planning and launching products in the market place.
- Field & Grower Engagement: Conduct regular in-field visits, customer meetings, and sales calls. Present tailored seed solutions highlighting agronomical benefits like enhanced yield, disease resistance, product quality under different growing conditions. Build and maintain strong relationships with growers, and key regional stakeholders. Manage and grow key accounts and partnerships, offering strategic support.
- Sales Strategy & Marketing: Own and deliver on territory sales targets, revenue forecasts, and margin goals, contributing to company growth. Develop and implement sales action plans, including pipeline forecasting and strategic follow-up. Conduct market and competitor analysis to inform competitive positioning and strategic decision-making. Lead New Product Introductions (NPIs): coordinate campaign rollouts, manage promotional messaging, and synchronize across R&D and marketing.
Person Specification: Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agronomy, or related field preferred. Experience: 3-7 years in technical sales within vegetable seed or horticultural industries, including trial management and product launches. Strong agronomic background, crop knowledge, and familiarity with trial processes. Commercial Skills: Proven ability to forecast, set targets, and drive sales growth. Self-motivated, proactive, results-oriented; excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation capabilities. Proficiency in English; knowledge of one or more Western European languages (e.g., French, German, Dutch) is a significant advantage. Comfortable with frequent travel across the UK and Europe; home-based with strong field presence.
